BANGKONG SERASAH

Description

Bangkong Serasah or Serasah Frog may be a quite the tribe of Megophryidae. Its scientific name is Leptobrachium hasseltii Tschudi, 1838. alternative Names in English is Hasselt's litter frog; it had been named therefore as a tribute to J. C. van Hasselt, one of person who knowledgeable and naturalist who worked in Hindia Belanda. (Indonesia within the Dutch colonial time).





Morphology

A medium Bangkong, aproximately 50-70 mm in lenght. Male Bangkong has small size than female. it is squat with big round head and big eyes. Dorsal (its back) is brown, blue-grey or purple (dark phase) and gold (bright phase). It has black polcadot-pattern symmetrical and gold polcadot-pattern in its edge. Its black-strip move from mouth to eyes. Iris is black. Ventral (abdomen) is grey to black. Swimming membran is only on foot.

Habitatual and Spread Out

Bangkong can be found only in forest, most of them is in mount area, especially where river is near by. Becaus Bangkong is nocturnal, therefore in day they just sleep.
